WELCOME YOU TO ZUNI FETISH OUTLET
Zuni Fetish Outlet has grown from the love and respect of Native American
carvings and the Native American culture that we have grown up with, and
share with our parents Wes and Jill Holmes who have been in the business
for over thirty years, and have been on the internet with Indian Summer
Native American Art since 1996, www.indiansummer.com.
We are fifth generation dealers since our
great, great grandparents started the ball rolling back in the 1920's in
Santa Fe, New Mexico, and a number of our ancestors continued the tradition
right down to us. We grew up in a houseful of fetish carvings and
Native American art. We have been going on buying trips with our
parents since before we could talk. We have been very fortunate to
meet a great deal of Native American artists that our family has had ties
with for many years. Our childhood was a unique experience with beloved
"uncles" dropping by the house to peddle their beadwork, flutes, folk art,
etc. Our mom always made sure they had a good meal and a place to
stay, and we would be entertained for hours listening to their remarkable
tales.
While we love and appreciate all of the various
Native American art work, we have always been drawn to the fetishes and
their mystical powers, and began our own fetish collections when we were
back in grade school. Our love and respect for this art form continues
to grow and has become a passion with us that we hope to share with you.
Liz graduated from the University of Utah
in 2007 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Gender Studies, a degree
centralized around human rights and ensuring equality for all. Liz
is striving to see that women and minorities, including those of the Native
American population, be treated fairly in the job market as well as every
aspect of life. Phyllis graduated from the University of Utah in
2006 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Tourism and Hospitality.
Phyllis loves to travel throughout the Southwest, she encourages tourism
to reservations and pueblos in hopes that travel to these places will educate
people on the culture and life of Native Americans, as well as boost the
Native American economy.
If you are reading this page about us, we
hope that you too share our enthusiasm, love, and respect for the fetish
